Stor Mor Mews

So I after Seeing Jesse Woody's mews I am thinking I am going to go with a Stor-Mor shed for the base of my mews. Stor-Mor will relocate the mews when I move and that is my primary motivation for using that as the base.

Here is my first draft of the completed mews layout and dimensions, please leave your comments and let me know what you like or don't like about this layout:

Hey Paul - as the offical mews-cleaner of Stor-Mor-Mews I'll tell you what I would do if I designed them .. ..
    1. Have large windows on 2 sides for ventilation. With one window they become incredibly hot in the summer (requiring fans). Shutters or blocks could be hung if there is too much exposure in the winter. If you have passage birds instead of hard imprints then they will benefit also from what they can see.
    2. Coat the wood floor and walls with truck-bed sealer or other type of moisture-proof stuff so they can be cleaned out and disinfected and prevent rotting.

Excellent, thanks Kelly. I had planned on using chloroplast for the inner walls which will wipe down really well. Also right now I plan to have that 4X4 window and then directly accross from that the Dutch Door will either be half or fully open at all times unless it's too cold then I will close that door and shutter the window. A dutch door is basically a door thats been cut in half so that you can ope the top half of the door independently of the bottom or you can open the whole door.

I am not sure how I'm going to handle drainage yet or what I'll use for flooring, any ideas?

You can go to the Second Chance building materials store in downtown boise and purchase the base of an old shower to put in the bottom, surrond whatever is left with some of the flooring they use in larger showers. We were there yesterday and they had a roll of it with their linolem and a shower base. They would probably charge you less than 10 bucks . ... could even put gravel in the mews then!

I also thought about just having it built without a floor and then drainage wouldn't be a problem.

Hey - Rick is building the 8 panel mews you have below without a floor so it will be portable. it is going pretty quick - come look at it when it is done and see if you think something like that could work for you. Thanks for posting that design! Kelly
